1. License

Playout is licensed under the Business Source License 1.1 (BSL 1.1).

  • Licensor: Playout Studio
  • Licensed Work: Playout © 2026 Playout Studio
  • Change Date: 2030-03-04
  • Change License: Apache License, Version 2.0

On the Change Date (or the fourth anniversary of the first publicly available distribution of that version, whichever comes first), the BSL 1.1 terms automatically convert to the Apache License 2.0 for that version.

2. What You May Do

Under BSL 1.1, you are permitted to:

  • Copy, modify, and create derivative works of the Licensed Work
  • Redistribute the Licensed Work
  • Use the Licensed Work for non-production purposes (e.g., evaluation, development, testing)

3. What Requires a Commercial License

Production use of the Licensed Work requires a separate commercial license from Playout Studio, unless an Additional Use Grant is specified (currently: none).

If your use does not comply with these terms, you must either obtain a commercial license or stop using the Licensed Work.

4. Trademark

This license does not grant you any rights to use Playout Studio's trademarks or logos, except as required by the license itself.

5. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the Licensed Work is provided "as is". Playout Studio disclaims all warranties and conditions, express or implied, including (without limitation) warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and title.

6. Limitation of Liability

In no event shall Playout Studio be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages (including loss of data or profit, or business interruption) arising out of the use or inability to use the Licensed Work, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

7. Termination

Any use of the Licensed Work in violation of this license will automatically terminate your rights under it for the current and all other versions of the Licensed Work.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes in the license or our policies. The "Last updated" date above will reflect any revisions.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of France. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in France.
